VIP guests were invited to a primary school near Trowbridge to view its prize-winning garden and mosaic designed by pupils due to start at secondary school in September.

North Bradley Primary School welcomed Trowbridge mayor Jeff Osborn, Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce president David Baker, and chairman of Trowbridge in Bloom, Jennifer Polledri, on Wednesday, July 22.

Year 6 pupils at the school, which won a third prize in the recent Trowbridge in Bloom competition, showed off the school’s new kitchen, which has been supplied with produce grown in the school garden maintained by grounds supervisor Brian Mitchell and pupils.

In addition, a mosaic designed by Year 6 leavers, with the help of artist Anita Andrews, featuring flora and fauna from the local area, was also unveiled.

Headteacher Jeanette O'Brien said: “We are in a very rural setting so we wanted it to be in keeping with that, so the children researched particular wildlife.

“They did all the drawings themselves.”
