THE UK’s premier rally day takes place at Castle Combe today, writes CHRIS JAMES.
The annual event has attracted over 10,000 spectators in the past, and the 1984 FIA World Rally Champion, Stig Blomqvist, heads the line-up of stars of rallying due to attend.
The Swede, who drove the Audi Quattro in his Championship winning year, will be part of the celebrations as the German marque celebrates its centenary.
The former rally driver and boss of M Sport, who run the Ford works rally team, Malcolm Wilson, is also due to attend, along with son Matthew, who competes in the World Rally Championship.
And 1995 British Rally Champion Alister McRae makes a welcome return to the event, along with Jimmy McRae and Russell Brookes.
Spectators will also get the chance of seeing rallycross supercars in action, along with the impressive Aston Martin Rally GT.
Around 600 cars from various eras will be on display, along with trade stands.
The day’s action starts at 9am and costs £15 for adults and £3 for children, while under fives go free.
