Calne's little angels flying high

Little Angels Nursery School, Calne, has passed their Ofsted inspection with flying colours and proved it is possible to give a good standard of care to children without a lot of money.

Having been turned down for funding by Wiltshire Council who did not deem it necessary to have another nursery in Calne, Rachel Everitt and husband Matthew went ahead anyway. Since opening in September the nursery has a full compliment of 34 children each week and have a waiting list for 2010.

The nursery is in a grade II listed building and boasts a large garden with pet rabbits. It also has a full-time cook who provides hot lunches and the staff are encouraged to sit with the children and enjoy the food, encouraging good table manners and social interaction. The idea is for the children to be valued as individuals and to have the right to be listened to.

Osted’s role is to ensure that schools and nurseries provide the highest standard of childcare possible. The Inspectors examine their facilities giving them little or no notice at all. The reasoning behind this is that they want to see the nursery as it actually runs from day to day. This ensures that the feedback received is as honest as possible. The inspection marked the nursery as ‘Good with oustanding elements.’ “Our nursery welcomes ofsted inspections as they not only help identify out strengths and highlight possible areas for improvement, but also gives us the opportunity to shine.” said Rachel “We’re absolutely made-up about the result and it’s a great reward for all the hard work that we’ve put in. The standard that i set has been met. It’s not possible for a new nursery to get outstanding in an inspection but we got the next best thing. The inspectors said that we had created a cosy, homely atmosphere and we feel like one big family.”

If the litte angels van continues to do shoddy parking on the corner of iris close when they are picking up from keyday/fynamore they really do run the risk of them and the clients to become little angels.

Dear Padfoot,

Assuming you mean ISIS Close, we are sorry if you have been inconvenienced in any way by our parking of our Renault-converted Little Angels minibus.

We agree with the school policy not to use the close, but on the single occassion we did have to park there this year, we did so due an emergency. We are sure you can appreciate that these things do happen in any family or business from time to time.

We normally park with the other driving parents in Tesco or the football club, as you will have seen.

You are wrong to suggest our parking is anything other than proper and safe. We do not endanger any member of our nursery family, in any way, especially not away from the nursery building within the grounds of Springfields School.

To suggest we cause any risk to our children or team is at best inaccurate and at worst hugely insulting to our Ofsted approved high level of care that we are proud to provide. We pride ourselves on the safe guarding of all the family at Little Angels and work hard to ensure the development and happiness of all concerned. We do not run any risks of any sort, as you can read for yourself within our recent Ofsted Inspection.

We are grateful for your observations, which we welcome from all, as we strive to constantly improve.

We would encourage you to gain the feedback of our children, parents, inspectors, visitors and team to ensure the picture you have of Little Angels Nursery is a true reflection of how well we help little people grow.

Merry Christmas,
Rachel and Matthew Everitt

You have been seen my me and quite a few others parking on the juction of School road and iris close. It was even commented on another forum that you do it.It was not just the once either.
As you are well aware there is many issues regarding the parking at school road for the school.
Common sence would not go amiss.

Padfoot grow up! You obviously made a mistake when you bought your house near an expanding school and this article has unfortunately given you a chance to tell the world about it. The reply from Little Angels is reasonable and you shouldnt penalise a new business for doing the same as a thousand other parents at Fynamore. Lose the large chip on your shoulder or move house!

James for your information i live no where near the school.
I do use the school though. What there buisiness is i couldnt care less my only concern is that more than once they have have been seen to park on a corner of a junction making it difficult for cars when coming out of the close onto school road,or cars pulling into the close from school road.
Parking up the school is not ideal and everyone would agree with that few months back they placed cones to stop people parking daft up there. In recent months there has been quite a few near misses with regard to the children up there. Why feel the need to add to the problem.Like i said a distint lack of common sence.

Fair enough, my mistake, sorry. Still, the only problem i see is the people ignoring the rules and going down Isis Close in the first place. Park on School Road with everyone else, and there is no problem as you dont have to come out of Isis Close at all. I guess it comes down to the police and the council to sort it out as no-one else is - double yellows and a warden patrolling for half an hour morning and night might help. Seems crazy to think about parking permits in Calne, but works near most schools/problem parking areas - maybe you should start a campaign!
