Perfectionist Teasdale not satisfied by win

THERE are very few managers who would be disappointed with a 3-0 win, but New College boss Mark Teasdale is striving for perfection from his Wiltshire League Premier Division pace-setters.

Teasdale watched his young side comfortably see off Wroughton at the weekend thanks to a Levi Cox brace and Josh Skeetes’ second-half strike, while the visitors were reduced to nine men following the dismissals of stand-in keeper Lee Curtis, for a handball outside his area, and centre-back Mark Bone, for two bookings.

And although they sit seven points clear of nearest rivals Pewsey Vale at the summit, Teasdale explained things could have been better.

“Our performance on the whole was okay, but we should have really done a lot more in the second half,” said the New College supremo.

“They were down to nine men and we should have finished them off, but we stopped playing at 2-0 and took our foot off the pedal.

“It was disappointing because goal difference could be crucial come the end of the season, and we should have taken advantage of that with a few more.”

New College travel to second-placed Pewsey this weekend for a top of the table clash, and Tesadale admitted: “It should be an interesting one. We will be up for it and if we can win then it gives us a bit of breathing space at the top.

“If they win their games in hand then they will only be a point behind us, so I guess you could call it a six -pointer.”

Elsewhere in the division, Westside slipped to a 3-2 defeat at home to Corsham Town, while lowly Marlborough went down 3-0 at Pewsey.

In Division One, second-placed Minety secured a 2-1 victory over Pewsey Reserves to close the gap on leaders SKS Blyskawica, who drew 2-2 with Byrons Wanderers.

In an all-Swindon derby, Nalgo ran out 2-0 winners away at Irons to also keep the pressure on at the top.

Chiseldon were Division Two’s big winners, thumping FC Chippenham Youth Reserves 8-0, while goals from Kevin Dunne and Ricky Hewitson keep Moredon Cheney flying high with a 2-1 victory over Wilton.

Lower Stratton claimed the honours in an exciting 4-3 exchange with KMLC FC, but Pembroke slipped to a single goal defeat away at Marlborough Reserves.

In cup action, Intel progressed to the fourth round of the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup with a 2-0 win over Greenmeadow - goals from Ashley Stevens and Richard Clarke clinching their place in the next stage.

This weekend, the pick of the games in Division One sees leaders Blyskawica travel to fourth-placed AFC N’Power, while there is an interesting looking midtable clash between Chiseldon and Pembroke in Division Two.
