Aldbourne girl on a mission

Former student of St John’s in Marlborough, Lizzi Ludlow, who is working in a leper colony in India, is trying to raise £1,000 to travel to Haiti to help with the relief operation following the devastating earthquake four weeks ago.

Lizzi, 20, whose parents Phil and Thea live at The Green in Aldbourne, has been working with the Christian missionary organisation Youth With a Mission in Argentina with her brother Peter but is now in India.

Lizzi wants to go to Haiti to help with the relief work but will have to fund this herself and the flight alone will cost about £1,000.

Writing from Argentina she said: “The relief team is being sent (to Haiti) by the Christian missionary organisation I have been working with for just under four years called Youth with a Mission.

“It is an organisation focused on training youth to do missions in any place and it is located in nearly every country in the world. The work we do ranges from working in churches, children’s homes to hospitals.”

Lizzi is the youngest of four and as well as her brother working with YWAM their older sister Josephine works with a charity called ENCAP helping with the problem of prostitution in Southampton.

The mother said: “If anyone should feel motivated to help this local girl who is putting aside her plans to give aid and relief to those suffering in Haiti it would be much appreciated.”

Offers of help should be made to Mrs Ludlow at 14 The Green, Aldbourne, telephone (01672) 540035.
