Back in time to the music hall

Members of the audience entered into the spirit of an old tyme music hall at St Andrew’s Church in Devizes by wearing costumes and decorated hats.

The church’s very own stand-up comedian, namely the Rev Chris Cory, was dressed in style as Sherlock Holmes at the packed Methodist and United Reformed church.

MC Brian King introduced the various acts with a flourish and the evening raised nearly £1,200 for the Church Refurbishment Project (StAR), with ten per cent going to Turning Point Trust, a charity working in the slums of Kenya.

Community singing, humorous sketches, piano playing, choir singing and a fish and chip supper completed the evening. Prizes were given for the best hat and costume on February 20 at the church in Long Street.
