WARMINSTER Town manager Jason Guy hopes his side’s midweek victory will give their morale a boost.
Town picked up their first win in three on Tuesday night, beating Stockbridge 2-1.
“It was nice to get three points because it’d been a little while since we’d got a good result,” said Guy.
“Morale has been low and the lads have been getting a bit frustrated but they put in a performance and got the result that they deserved.
“There were still things that we could improve on but we’re happy with the win.”
Warminster took the lead just before half-time through James Vincent, who clipped a shot past the Stockbridge keeper after being sent racing clear.
The visitors hit back midway through the second period with Stephen Smith’s deflected error.
Guy’s men pushed for the winner and their efforts were rewarded when captain Tom Welch was brought down in the area with 10 minutes to go.
Shaun Sheppard dispatched the spot-kick and sealed the points for Warminster.
The result wasn’t so good for Town on Saturday as they were humbled 4-1 by Hamble ASCC.
Vincent again gave Warminster the lead in the first period but Guy’s side were deflated by two late penalties at the end of the half.
James Musselwhite netted twice whilst Ashley Jarvis and Paul West were also on the scoresheet.
Unattached midfielders Anthony Hall and Tom Malcolm have signed on at Weymouth Street.
