Colerne Sea Scouts in bid for new leader

Colerne Sea Scouts desperately need a leader otherwise the 50-year-old troop will not be able to continue in the village.

Despite numerous appeals for a Scout leader, the 1st Colerne Sea Scout group has not found anybody to replace the previous leaders.

Cub leader Caroline Atter said: “We cannot run a Scout group without a leader so most of the Scouts we had last summer have since gone to other groups.

“However there are some who were just too nervous to go to a new group but would have carried on going to one in Colerne.

“It’s a shame really as we have Cub, Beaver, Rainbow, Brownies and Guide groups but nobody to run the Scout troop.”

Leaders Helen and Rob Featherstone left Colerne to go to Cyprus last March, as part of Mr Featherstone’s posting within the RAF and were replaced by Lou Doliczny who ran the troop for the summer.

However she left after the summer and so the troop couldn’t continue.

Mrs Atter, whose daughter Helen leads the village Rainbows group, said: “It is a family affair between Helen and me.

“It would be really nice to have at least one person come forward for the Scout leader post so that the group can carry on in the village.

“Parents have already said they are willing to support any leader who takes on the role.”

Anyone who is interested in the role should call Carol Atter on (01225) 742912.
