Parishioners from Wiltshire embark on Italian trip

Churchgoers from across Wiltshire will embark on a pilgrimage to Sicily in the autumn, following a successful trip to Rome and Assisi last year.

The nine-day trip, organised by Wiltshire Churches Together for September, is intended to explore the cultural history of the island, with expert assistance from an Italian guide.

Organiser Carole Stickney, from Staverton, said: “Last year 17 people went on the trip to Rome and Assisi, from several denominations and all walks of life.

“The positive outcome of this trip was to celebrate our similarities, not our differences.

“This year we will be in Sicily during late September, a lovely time of year to be able to appreciate the rich history of this island, both secular and religious.

“It will however be a leisure week with ample opportunity for private time, beaches, and for the adventurous Mount Etna.”

Tickets cost £889 including travel and accommodation.
