Fire crews were called out twice on Monday to tackle grass fires, more usually associated with high summer.
The crews, from Devizes, were called to New Zealand Farm Camp on Salisbury Plain at around 3.30pm after reports of fires on a 500 metre square area of grass.
Station commander Pip Flowers said: “The MOD had already begun to tackle it and it was starting to burn out. We were told that it was started by a cigarette end left by a dog walker.”
At about 7pm, crews were called to grassland at Lutze Farm, Poulshot where they quickly brought a blaze under control.
