Security on agenda for Calne industrial estate

The best way to combat crime in Porte Marsh Industrial Estate in Calne will be one of the topics of discussion when the town council hosts a Business Forum lunch at the Town Hall in May.

The purpose of the lunch is to provide anyone with a business interest in the town the opportunity to network, discuss and debate local issues.

Security for the industrial estate, from which there have been a number of lead thefts in recent months, will be on the agenda.

Guest speakers will include Lord Lansdowne and Sergeant Phil Connor and there will be an Automated Number Plate Recognition presentation by Paul Saunders of OCS Security Solutions.

The event will take place on May 20 from noon. Tickets cost £10 each and can be booked on (01249) 814000.

Why don't they just have gates and a 24hr security guard at each entrance into Porte Marsh. The cost of these gates and security team can then be paid by way of a levy to each and every business on the estate - which when spread out like that wouldn't be that mush per annum. Their insurance would then fall because of the extra security in place and it also creates a few more jobs as well.

Triton , this would cost to much per annum, with all the business`s on the estate (70 in total) paying £300-£400 per annum approx £21k +.

ANPR & CCTV would cost £21k to install with a one off payment to each business of £300.

Further cameras would be added at extra cost.

I work on porte marsh & know this is the plan through info recieved from the council & police.

oh & by the way the insurance co`s will not reduce the payments no matter how much security you have (we have checked ).But it will go up every time you claim .
