The Community Hub, a venue for meetings, exhibitions and other public services, is to formally open in Calne on April 1.
Mayor Coun Howard Marshall will open the hub in an empty shop in the High Street at 10am on April 1.
The idea of a hub is to bring together services, groups and organisations, consultation events and community activities.
The hub has been running in the shop on a month to month basis since January 2009 after being funded as a pilot project for 12 months by Wiltshire Council.
It will, after April 1, be opened as a more permanent service.
The EarTunes Internet radio is based in the hub and E-Calne is planning to offer one-to-one computer tuition by the end of March.
The concept arose from attempts by the former North Wiltshire District Council to involve townsfolk in the preparation of the Community Area Plan.
Last year other partner groups and agencies became involved, including the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Youth Development Service and Westlea Housing Association Malcolm Gull, chairman of the Calne Community Area Partnership, said: “This is very much a success story for Calne.
“It demonstrates that area boards, partnerships and Wiltshire Council can work together successfully for the common good.”
