A new healthy lifestyle course for overweight youngsters in Chippenham will open its doors next month.
One in three children in the county is overweight and MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition...Do it!) aims to help them become fitter, healthier and happier while having fun.
The ten-week after-school programme, which will be held at The Olympiad Leisure Centre, will be open to children between the ages of seven and 13 and their parents.
They will have the chance to learn about healthy eating and how to enjoy physical activity.
The free course, devised by child health experts at Great Ormond Street Hospital, is funded by the Big Lottery, and also includes a visit to a supermarket where the children and their parents will learn how to read food labels.
Jo Cook, MEND’s regional manager for Wiltshire, said: “The MEND programme is a fun way for children above a healthy weight to get fit and healthy and improve their self-esteem.”
