Parents of youngsters at Ivy Lane Primary School in Chippenham can experience school dinners for themselves following an initiative set up by staff.
For the past two years, each year group has been given the opportunity to invite their parents or grandparents to school for a lunch time and headteacher Chris Marshall said it has proved a huge success.
“The children love having their parents in school with them, it makes them feel special for the day to have somebody to show around,” she said.
“It has been very popular and we decided to do it for two reasons - one to encourage parents to have a first hand experience of what we offer in terms of our school meals, and to see how the school works and become more involved with the school.”
Mrs Marshall added: “We are also very proud of our school catering company, ABM, because they use all fresh produce, none of this semi processed food, so it is excellent for the children.”
