Police in Corsham have uncovered a cannabis factory in a quiet residential street during a raid earlier this morning.
Officers from Corsham, two armed officers, PCSOs and a dog handler unit were involved in the intelligence-led raid on a semi-detached house in Springfield Close, just after 8am.
In an upstairs bedroom, officers found a cannabis factory complete with hydroponics system, used for cultivating the class B drug, as well as the remains of a cannabis crop, which had been harvested, and other drugs paraphernalia.
Following the raid, a man was arrested at a separate address in Corsham on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.
Neighbours in the street spoke of their shock at seeing police raid the house.
One man, who was having a shower when he saw police in the neighbouring garden, said: "It comes as a bit of a shock. We assumed it (the house) was rented out. We often saw people coming in and out."
Crime scene investigators from Chippenham are on their way to the house to take photos for evidence before the factory is dismantled.
