DIVISION TWO CUP
Westbury United A 0 Foresters FC 2
THE Foresters booked their place in the E J Shanley & Son Limited-sponsored Division Two Cup final.
Luke Turvey scored the only goal of the first half and the second period saw Westbury go in search of the equaliser, only to concede a second on the break, the goal being scored by Owen Brian.
Westwood Social Club 2 FC Northbridge 1
WESTWOOD will be Foresters' final opponents.
After a goalless first half, defences continued to dominate, but the deadlock was eventually broken by Westwood’s Dan Thorne.
Northbridge weren’t behind for long however as Steve Jackson scored to level the game.
Westwood then stepped up a gear and were rewarded with another Thorne goal to seal the victory.
SPRING CUP
The Lamb 1 Castle Combe 2
CASTLE Combe reached the final of the Bradfords Building Supplies Limited-sponsored Spring Cup.
Carl Dawson scored the only goal in the first half to give Combe the lead.
Midway through the second period Dean Gumm equalised for The Lamb to set up a tense finish.
With both teams going in search of the winner, it fell to Mark Sharratt who scored to break the Lamb’s hearts.
DIVISION ONE
Bradford United 2 Semington Magpies 2
BRADFORD closed to within six points of safety after securing a draw against Semington Magpies.
All four goals came in the second half with Dan Jones and Kieran Powell scoring for Bradford and Andy Harrison and Ian Rimmer for Semington.
Blue Circle 7 Bromham 2
BLUE Circle remain third after a comfortable win over Bromham.
Circle got off to a flyer with a goal from Pete Ayton which was quickly followed by a second from Kane Scott.
The third arrived on the half hour mark from Luke Smith.
With the second half a few minutes old Daryl Maxwell made it 4-0.
Anthony Butler pulled a goal back for Bromham, but this only served to inspire Circle and Maxwell scored again to make it 5-1.
Midway through the half Luke Smith made it 6-1 and then went on to complete his hat-trick.
With time running out Bromham scored a second through Ashley Edwards.
Lavington v The Deverills
THE Deverills remain top after recording a win at Lavington.
The first half saw The Deverills dominate and they scored three goals through Mark Corbin, Scott Gallazi and Mike Payne.
The second half saw Lavington begin their fightback and they scored two goals from Luke Chant and Craig Campbell.
This set up a tense finish, which saw The Deverills hold on for the win.
Trowbridge Wanderers 3 Broughton FC 0
TROWBRIDGE Wanderers stay fourth after beating Bromham.
A brace from Tom Pang was enough to give the home side a comfortable 2-0 lead at the interval.
The second period saw Adam Mercer score to complete the victory.
Frome Town Sports 0 Freshford United 1
FROME Town Sports and Freshford played out a match that had 0-0 written all over it, until a own goal gave the points to Freshford.
DIVISION TWO
Seend United Reserves 3 Heytesbury 5
SECOND-PLACED Seend United Reserves played host to second from bottom Heytesbury in the only match in Division Two.
It was the visitors who had the better of the start and on 11 minutes they were a goal up from Chris Baker.
Twenty minutes later Seend equalised with a shot from Marcus Underwood.
With both teams continuing to play attacking football, more goals seemed inevitable and on 39 minutes Baker scored his second to make it 2-1 in Heytesbury’s favour.
The lead however, was shortlived as Sean Meer scored to level once again.
With time in the first period running out Seend were awarded a penalty, the resulting spot kick was saved by Edmunds in the Heytesbury goal and the half time score remained 2-2.
Just after the hour mark Heytesbury took hold of the match and scored two quick goals through Baker, to complete a hat-trick, and Leigh Kennedy to make the score 4-2.
With 71 minutes on the clock Seend found themselves down to 10 men as Ben Howe was sent off for foul and abusive language.
This seemed to inspire Seend and they played some exciting football but were still unable to break through the Heytesbury defence.
Then with six minutes remaining Heytesbury scored a fifth goal through Kennedy but before the celebrations had finished Jordan Evans made it 5-3. However, Heytesbury held on for the win.
DIVISION THREE
Chippenham Old Boys 2 Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves 2
CLASH of the day in Division three saw top placed Chippenham Old Boys play hosts to second placed Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves.
Wanderers scored the only goal of the first period through Dan Mercer.
The second period saw James Pope equalise for the Old Boys before Gavin Francis restore Wanderers lead. Shane Bell then went on to score a second equaliser for Chippenham and the match finished honours even.
Mere Town YDT 0 United FC 1
THE battle of the basement saw second from bottom Mere Town YDT play host to bottom club United FC. The first half passed without a score and the only goal of the second came from Mariusz Jackiewill to give United the points and move them off the bottom.
