ZAMARETTO LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH AND WEST: Frome Town 3 Bedfont Green 1

Frome Town eventually triumphed 3-1 over Bedfont Green in a highly entertaining match, full of goalmouth action, incidents and missed chances.

Frome welcomed Mike Perrott back into the side, who they signed on a permanent deal last Friday.

The midfielder has returned to the Club from Bath City after impressing in his earlier three month loan spell at the AlderSmith Stadium.

Frome had the better of the first 15 minutes, with Ricky Hulbert managing to get headers on goal as he rose to meet crosses from Luke Ballinger and Thomson, but as the match wore on, Bedfont Green came more into the game and started pressing the Frome defence, with their left winger Henry involved in much of the action as he impressed with his pace and skill.

After a long period of Bedfont Green pressure, in the 28th minute, Frome took the lead against the run of play as Ballinger made ground on the right, squared the ball to Perrott who hung a cross in the air for Hulbert, who powered his 20 yard header past Turner into the far corner of the visitors goal.

One minute later, Pass produced an excellent save low to his left to deny Grant the equaliser as the Bedfont Green forward found himself unmarked 12 yards out after a slick passing move.

The 32nd minute saw Salter and Hulbert combine to set up a shooting chance for Thomson but the 25 yard shot flew well wide of the far post.

Bedfont Green scored a deserved equaliser in the 37th minute as the troublesome Henry found himself with space in the corner of the Frome penalty area, and he swivelled and produced a low 20 yard right foot shot that beat Pass and buried itself in the far corner of the net.

Hulbert almost repeated his earlier goal in the 45th minute as he again seemed to hang in the air, but this time the header was well saved by Turner.

The 47th minute saw controversy as a though ball from Perrott found Hulbert in the penalty area, and as he turned his marker, he appeared to be pulled over as the defender went to ground, but the referee looked at the linesman and both turned the appeal down, to the loud annoyance of the home fans.

Perrott went close in the 50th minute as he got his head to a Ballinger corner at close range, but the ball sailed over the cross bar.

Shortly after, Bedfont Green missed the chance of the match as Henry latched onto a long goal kick, accelerated into the Frome box before beating two defenders and laid the ball perfectly into the path of Grant who somehow managed to scoop the ball over the bar from 3 yards out with the entire goal unattended.

In the 65th minute, Turner was adjudged to have picked the ball up for a second time after dribbling the ball in the penalty area, leading to an indirect free kick given for handball inside the penalty area. The Bedfont Green defenders formed a wall two yards off the line and managed to safely deflect Perrott's shot.

Frome just kept on piling on the pressure, but Bedfont Green always looked dangerous on the break and Pass had to be alert to deal with a 20 yard snapshot from Milner in the 65th minute, and one minute later they went close again Henry set up Milner for a far post header that went wide.

The breakthrough finally came in the 85th minute as Hulbert got free on the right wing, cut into the box and produced a low pulled back cross that saw Salter and his marker both slide in for the ball, with Salter just getting his foot to the ball a split second before the defender to poke the ball into the corner of the net to give Frome a 2-1 lead.

Hulbert almost produced the goal of the game in the 91st minute as his overhead kick met a Thomson cross, but the ball flew over the cross bar by a foot or so. Frome finally sealed the match in the 93rd minute as Ballinger broke into the visitor's half, survived a tackle that almost brought him down, beat a defender and accelerated into the box, only to be brought down by Major just as he was about to shoot.

Ballinger waited while Major received a yellow card, then took the penalty himself, with Turner guessing correctly but just failing to get enough on the ball to stop it going into the net.
