Police are investigating an armed robbery at a post office in a village near Warminster on Saturday afternoon.
Two masked men entered the store in Zeals, just outside Mere, and demanded money from the cashier, at about 12.50pm.
Both men were dressed in dark clothing and were believed to be wearing balaclavas.
One of the men had what the cashier thought was a handgun in his possession.
After being given a sum of money, the men fled on foot along Chapel Lane towards the entrance of Whitesheet School, got into a red Rover 214 car and left the scene.
Wiltshire officers began a search of the area and the police helicopter was called in to help.
At about 1.15pm, an officer stopped a car travelling along an unclassified road from Motcombe towards the A350 at Semely and arrested two men.
The men, aged 44 and 34, from Bournemouth, were taken to Salisbury Police Station and questioned. They have since been released on police bail.
Detective Sergeant James Stannard said: "This incident was very frightening for the cashier involved.
"I am keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the robbery and anyone who uses the route from Zeals to Semely via Motcombe and remembers seeing a red Rover 214 car with a noisy exhaust that day.
"Lastly I am appealing for local residents, dog walkers and horse riders who use that route to look out for items that may have been thrown from the vehicle.”
If you have relevant information, call DS Stannard on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
