Reformed band to headline in Chippenham

Chippenham's only rock music festival is set to have everyone dancing in the moonlight in June when headline act Toploader take to the stage.

With two stages and eight bands raising money for two charities at the second Namfest, organisers Ben Slater and Laurence Jackson claim it will be “the super gig of 2010”.

This week it was announced the event will be the first of the summer’s festivals to host the comeback of one of Britain’s most popular bands of the late 1990s – Toploader.

Mr Slater said: “We are excited to have booked Toploader to top the bill.

“With hits like Achilles Heel and Dancing In The Moonlight to their name, they are sure to be an awesome sound on the night and a real treat for everyone coming along.

“After reforming at a stag party the boys are bringing out new material later this year.”

The second headline act is Devon band The Quails, who have recently finished touring with Muse and Newton Faulkner.

Mr Slater said: “They have a album called Master of Imperfection out on May 8, and are touring nationwide throughout May.”

Other bands playing on June 5 will be The Gavin Thorpe Band, Deluxe-O-Matic, and Chippenham groups Energy Without The Sun and Just Get Naked.

It is hoped the festival will raise more than £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and The Souls and Shadows Foundation – a charity helping people with fighting life-threatening illnesses through music therapy.

Mr Slater said: “This gig is set to rock the town and kick off everyone’s summer.”

Tickets cost £12 in advance or £15 on the door, and are available from Noteworthy Music in Station Hill and the Gladstone Arms.
