Devizes MP Claire Perry is scheduled to address the inaugural meeting of the town’s new health campaign group.
Devizes Health Matters will be launched on Thursday July 1 at the town hall from 7pm to 9pm.
It is a direct reaction to recent concerns about health services in the town, notably the false starts for a Primary Care Centre and rumours hinting at the closure of the X-ray unit at Devizes Community Hospital.
Despite categorical denials by NHS Wiltshire that any current services are under threat, concern continues.
Judy Rose, one of the three co-ordinators of the new organisation along with Philippa Morgan and Vibeke Ormerod, said: “The aim of the group is to act as an umbrella body for all organisations and individuals of our community area in order to fight for the retention and improvement of our health services.”
