Gardens in Kington Langley played host to 88 new faces at the weekend for the village’s biggest Scarecrow Festival.
It is thought the event attracted more than 2,500 visitors, with around 900 Pimms and 700 soft drinks sold, as well as 800 burgers from the main barbecue alone.
This year, the scarecrows took on the theme of song titles, with villagers going all out with sound effects, moving body parts and even fake rain.
The two winners of the People’s Choice awards, which were voted for by visitors, were Bonnie Thomas and Oli Roberts for their YMCA scarecrows in the adult competition. The pair moved into the village only last October so it was the first time they had entered.
In the children’s competition, the winner was Charlie Howe for his Man In The Mirror scarecrow.
The festival coincided with the wedding on Saturday of Félicité Kallaway and Andrew Russell, who made their own bride and groom scarecrows.
Organiser Adrian Beeby said: “Everybody had a brilliant time.”
