Tributes have been paid to mother-of-two Janet Williams, 47, who died just six days after being told she had cancer.
Mrs Williams lived in Whittonditch Road in Ramsbury with her husband Paul and daughters Kayleigh, 23, and Danielle, 21.
She had worked as an assistant in Greggs bakery in the High Street, Marlborough, since it opened four years ago.
She died on Sunday August 22 at home with her husband and daughters at her bedside after being diagnosed with cancer that had spread from her bowel to other vital organs.
The funeral takes place today at 2pm when a horse-drawn carriage will go from Mrs Westall’s home to the Church of the Holy Cross in Ramsbury as part of a cortege organised by her cousin Peter Westall.
The family said flowers would be welcome but not lilies which had certain associations for Mrs Westall.
Any donations in lieu of flowers should go the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary in South Devon, care of Ramsbury undertakers Franklin and Sons.
Her daughter Kayleigh said that Sidmouth was one of her mother’s favourite resorts and that her parents would frequently visit the donkey sanctuary while on holiday there.
Kayleigh said: “Mum loved donkeys, in fact she loved all animals.”
The Williams family lived in Whitehill Close, which is famed for its display of Christmas lights.
Mrs Williams was one of the instigators of the lights, which used to attract many visitors and raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities until the scheme was discontinued last year. Mr Williams said: “The Christmas lights became a total nightmare every year because no matter what else happened we had to continue the lights.”
The family moved to nearby Whittonditch Road about ten years ago.
Mrs Williams, who was born and brought up in Ramsbury, was very involved in the village and helped with the parish magazine.
She had suffered abdominal pains for years, which doctors suspected might be gall or kidney stones, said her husband.
She was admitted to the Great Western Hospital and underwent scans but doctors found nothing until after she returned home for five days.
She suffered severe pain and had to return to the hospital where a specialist re-examined the scans and spotted that she had cancer of the bowel that had spread to other organs.
She died at home six days later.
