Health will be at the top of the agenda in Corsham on Tuesday when locals are invited to talk about service provision in the community.

A think-tank meeting will open its doors to residents of Corsham, Lacock, Box, Colerne and the surrounding villages to encourage them to air their views about the health provision they receive.

The meeting, due to be held at Corsham Town Hall from 4pm until 6pm, will bring together residents with a representative from NHS Wiltshire who will be on hand to listen to people’s experiences of health services in the area.

Kevin Gaskin, co-ordinator for the Corsham Community Area Network which has set up the event, said: “We are very keen to involve patients who have views on services that they have received, people from across the area who may represent health interest groups or are involved in health related matters in some way.”

A task group will be set up after the first community health forum is held to look at issues facing the Corsham area such as the numbers of trips and falls among the elderly, which are higher than other parts of the county.

Christine Reid, a non-executive director of the Wiltshire Primary Care Trust, said: “We want to see a wide range of people attend. We want women and men, young and old. If someone has an interest in health issues then they should come along.

“We want people to be positive and bring their experiences to the meeting so that we can look at what needs the people of the Corsham area have.”
