THE famous Sherston Mangold Hurl will be taking place next month.

The annual event, which sees villagers throwing root vegetables as far as possible will take place on the village hall field on October 3.

Play starts at noon with entry costing £5 for a team of three. There will also be a mass Agincourt hurl at approximately 12.37pm.

For non hurlers there will be plenty of other entertainment including live music, stalls, a bar, barbecue and afternoon teas.

Jimmy Doherty led his Root Vegetable Acrobatic Display Team to victory in the 2009 hurl.
