London runner Paul Martelletti, of Victoria Park and Tower Hamlets AC, came first in the Chippenham Half Marathon with a course record breaking time of 1:09:04 The first woman across the line was Holly Rush from Bradford on Avon who competes for Team Bath and represented Great Britain in this summer’s European Championships.

Rush broke the women’s course record with a time of 1:18:19.

Race co-ordinator Kevin Napier was pleased with the quality of the elite runners.

He said: “Paul ran the Bristol half marathon recently and saw the prize money on offer here and decided to come and compete.

“He received £250 which was provided by David and Gill Powell and a pair of running shoes from Sportszform.

“Holly is currently training for the Commonwealth Games so we were part of her training regime.

“The first ten times were pretty quick this year.

“We’ve had some fast runners taking part as word has got out that we have such a good course.”
