Troops from Hullavington have raised about £900 for a stillbirth charity after completing a 24-hour cycle around the Buckley Barracks airfield.

The ride, on the 3.7 mile airfield, started last Tuesday at 4pm and finished the following day at the same time.

It was undertaken by ten men from 9 Regiment Royal Logistics Corps, who rode around the airfield in shifts.

Organiser Sergeant Paul Monaghan said: “It all went really well in the end.

“The weather was really bad but we persevered. Despite the weather everyone was in high spirits, and we all cycled the last lap together so we could finish at the same time. ”

The team were raising money for the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death charity (Sands) after meeting the co-chairman of the Swindon branch, Calne man Richard Jones.

Mr Jones and wife Sandy, of Honeysuckle Close, lost their baby Harry who was stillborn in January this year.
