Last summer about 80 youngsters wrote and recorded an album of songs which is available free from today.
The children aged between eight and 21-years from the Parks area of Swindon spent last summer working with Create Studios, Swindon’s Digital Media Centre, to create the 13-track CD.
The compilation of songs, raps and rhymes will be available in the Central Library from this week.
The young people worked under the guiding hand of Barry Andrews, Create’s music producer and former keyboard player with rock band XTC, in the Createmobile, which travels into the community bringing state of the art recording facilities into the neighbourhood.
Create Studio manager, Shahina Johnson, said: “Young people in Parks loved having the Createmobile service in their midst.
“Our work is all about making changes in people’s lives by giving them creative opportunities to try something new and build confidence in their own abilities. The CD is fantastic and we wanted Swindon people to be able to hear it.’’ The Parks project, called Power Play, was funded by Youth Music, the UK charity that uses music to transform the lives of disadvantaged children.
