Marlborough catering couple in demand

Caterers Bob and Nikki Holman are closing their Marlborough High Street deli to concentrate on their Food Gallery Cafe, which opened last year, and their booming outside catering business.

The couple, who ran a variety of enterprises from their home in All Cannings, took over Mackintosh’s, the town’s only deli, six years ago, adding a coffee bar and a sandwich delivery service.

More recently they expanded into outside catering and Mr Holman said its success has meant closing the Food Gallery shop on June 25 to concentrate on the cafe and outside catering.

Mr Holman said: “The outside catering business has gone berserk with weddings and other bookings and we have reached the point where we can’t do everything and something had to give.

“After long reflection we’ve decided to close the Food Gallery Deli so that we can concentrate on catering.

“We originally got into the food gallery because I love coffee. I have always been grumpy about the poor quality of coffee served around the UK. We developed our own blend which continues to be a huge success.”

Their son Richard has joined the business with Andy and Elaine Nobbs, who formed a joint venture with the Holmans last November to run the Food Gallery Deli and do the cooking for the outside events. The deli will be re-let to another business.
