Missing Warminster teen found safe in Portsmouth

A search was launched by police and Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR), using the force helicopter, for a missing 17-year-old in Warminster at midday on Tuesday.

The boy was later located safe and well in Portsmouth at just after 5pm.

Inspector Lindsey Winter said: “The initial reports concerning the missing youth received at about midday were escalated as this was completely out of character and an unexplained disappearance.

“Whilst the presence and activity of all the police in Warminster caused some minor disruption to shoppers and residents it is hoped the public were reassured by the appropriate police response this report received.

“We would also like to thank all those members of the public/members of WILSAR who participated, for their help and support during the search.”

Pleased as punch he was found safely, however what a waste of money and resources that could of been needed in a real emergency. When people decide to do this they should receive a fine. It costs 1000 before it even leaves the ground. Maybe this will make people think before they just decide to go somewhere else and not tell anyone.

Hang on, we don't know the circumstances. He might have left a message which wasn't found, or sent an SMS text that wasn't opened.
The helcopter seems a bit of a luxury - did he have orange dayglow hair or something?
