FROME Town boss Darren Perrin says his side can count themselves unlucky not have taken all three points from their draw at Bashley last weekend.
The home side went ahead 33 minutes in when a free-kick caused confusion in the Frome area and the ball broke to Luke Whitely, who was left with an easy finish.
But when Ben Thomson was bundled over in the box by Bashley’s Jack Smith late in the half, Mike Perrott stepped to fire home from the penalty spot and level the scores.
The hosts were awarded a penalty of their own 12 minutes into the second period but Frome keeper Darren Chitty produced an acrobatic save to deny Dave Allen.
“Ricky Hulbert and Shaun Benison missed chances early on for us and Matt Smith’s put the ball wide from four yards for us late on,” said Perrin.
“It’s a good point but we should probably be disappointed not have won the game.
“It keeps our mini-run going because we’ve only lost one of the last eight (league games) and it’s another point on the way to that target of 46.”
Frome face a tough test tomorrow, with title-chasers Oxford City visiting Badgers Hill.
Perrin added: “They beat us 2-0 at their place and they were probably the best side we’ve faced in this division, along with Totton.
“But we’ve done well against the top sides – I don’t know if that’s because we get time to play but we’re full of confidence.”
Keeper Chitty is suffering from a back injury and could be replaced by Ed Quelch while Alex Lapham has an ankle injury and Josh Brigham is suspended.
Jamie Cheeseman, who is suffering from a hernia, was due to see a specialist yesterday but Perrin does not expect the defender to return to action this season.
