A CRIME-MAPPING website has identified College Street as the town’s biggest trouble spot.
The side road, which passes behind a car park, is used as a cut-though to the central shopping area.
Crime reports in December included eight incidents of anti-social behaviour, seven of shoplifting, five of public disorder and weapons and three of violent crime.
There were also three thefts classed as ‘other’, one drug incident, one criminal damage and arson, one robbery and two unidentified crimes.
A spot behind a supermarket on the road registered four incidents of shoplifting, a robbery, anti-social behaviour and other theft. In total there were 31 crimes in the road and seven behind the store.
The most crime-ridden area was around the north of Bridge Street, where 67 incidents were recorded – more than any other part of Swindon.
The website was updated last week to include parks, nightclubs and other public places.
The Adver reported on Saturday how the area around Wood Street and Devizes Road was the biggest trouble-spot in the south of Swindon.
The website, which has registered 453 million hits since going online last February, can be found at www.police.uk
