Pancake lovers are being promised a ‘flipping’ good time at two upcoming pancake races in Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon.
The annual event in Trowbridge takes place on Shrove Tuesday – February 21 – in Fore Street and every entrant will take home a prize or certificate.
The first race begins at 10.30am after a 10am registration and there will be four categories in which people can enter – ladies, men, children and the relay team of four.
Organiser Maryrose Mantle, from Trowbridge Town Council, said; “We are calling all local families to come down and show the kids and the people of Trowbridge how to properly toss over a pancake.
“Everyone who gets involved each year has a flipping good time and each year we run the event it is always very popular.”
Some entrants will be in fancy dress costume in the hope of winning a further prize.
Free pancakes will also be served up for spectators and entrants courtesy of Cafe Culture, the new cafe at the Trowbridge Civic Centre.
Bradford on Avon’s pancake race is taking place on the town bridge at 4pm on the same day.
Participants will be raising money towards this year’s Christmas lights and a forthcoming town council campaign to promote Bradford on Avon.
Sponsorship forms, for those wishing to take part, are available from shops in the town including Piha Surf and Ski, Tillions, Growing Needs and Our Green Room, The Olive Tree.
