A DOG walk in Trowbridge has helped to raise £350 for a charity which provides assitance dogs for people with disabilities.

Despite dreadful weather, six volunteer puppy fosterers and their puppies-in-training braved the rain at Southwick Country Park in aid of Canine Partners.

The walk was organised by Sheila Sadler, from Trowbridge, and her husband John.

Mrs Sadler was given an assistance dog called Kerly following a road traffic accident.

She said: “Many people came to support the event. Those taking the 1.8km surfaced walk remained reasonably unscathed by the weather, but those taking the 3km route were travelling through mud and water. They were rewarded slightly with a copse of bluebells.

“I must thank all those who took part, as well as our new band of volunteers. I was able to spread the word about how my dog has improved my quality of life and opened doors to independence.”

Canine Partners is looking for volunteers, fundraisers and puppy fosterers from the area. For further information, contact Heather Loan on 07826 232727.
