Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has appointed Deborah Fielding as its interim boss.
Ms Fielding has previously been a director at South East Essex Primary Care Trust and deputy chief executive of NHS Havering.
The CCG is the doctor led organisation that will take over responsibility for buying local health services in Wiltshire when NHS Wiltshire is abolished in April 2013.
Dr Steve Rowlands, chairman of the CCG and a GP in Trowbridge, said: "Deborah has extensive knowledge and experience of clinical policy and clinical governance and experience in creating and developing innovative collaboration between organisations and teams."
