The Great North Run has a new competitor as Calne PCSO Andrew Willox will rise to the 13.6 mile challenge to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The newly qualified officer, who has worked as part of the Calne team since March, signed up to the event after encouragement from his Northern family members.
He said: “It’s something my family have done for the past few years and my cousins kind of roped me into doing it.
“Out of the local charities Wiltshire Air Ambulance seemed the obvious choice as I see all the good they do every day.
“I’m a new PCSO and it links to my new job.
“I’ve never really been a runner and it’s been a bit of a task training, but I’m following a plan and keeping to it.”
PCSO Willox will be taking part in the Newcastle run on September 16. To sponsor him, visit www.justgiving.
