Bus routes and times will change in the west of the county from September 2 as First rejigs its timetables in Bath and Wiltshire.

Among the routes affected is service 234 from Frome to Chippenham which passes through Trowbridge, 236 running from Paxcroft Mead to Studley Green, and 263 from Trowbridge to Studley Green.

Also subject to some changes are services 264/265 from Bath to Warminster, which will see fewer journeys, and the 271/272 routes from Bath to Devizes which goes through Melksham and sees changes to times, particularly on Sundays.

Included in the changes are a new timetable for the Bath Park and Ride services, from the Newbridge, Lansdown and Odd Down sites so that the Park and Ride service will run regularly on Sundays for the first time.

Simon Ford, acting regional network manager for First in the South West and Wales, said: “We are altering a number of our services from September 2, responding to changes in demand for our services and specifically boosting the frequency of buses where we believe there is the opportunity for growth.

“Unfortunately not all the changes being made in September will be popular. In Wiltshire for instance, as part of the on-going efficiency drives within local government, which have led to some funding reductions for bus services, some changes have had to be made to those journeys we provide on behalf of Wiltshire Council.

"These alterations are regrettable but in making them we have worked closely with the council and have done what we can to minimise the likely impact on our customers.”
