Palmer Gardens in Trowbridge celebrated its centenary with a fun day on Bank Holiday Monday.
The community garden is run as a social enterprise and has helped hundreds of people to gain horticultural skills.
George Palmer, a businessman, councillor and MP, opened the gardens in 1912 to educate school children in horticulture.
In 1984, disability employment charity Shaw Trust took over and uses the garden centre and cafe to help train disabled and disadvantaged people for the workplace, learn gardening skills and build their confidence.
Jo Wotton, the trust’s marketing manager, said: “We thought we’d have a fun day to raise awareness of what we do as a charity and to celebrate 100 years.
“It’s good to get the community involved.
“Donations are gratefully received and will be ploughed back into helping the disabled and disadvantaged people we work with.”
