RUNNING: Meare on top at Barbury (From This Is Wiltshire)

SWINDON club runners dominated the recent Barbury Castle Track 'n Trail 5.

Swindon Striders’ Simon Meare finished in 30:59 to win by just two seconds from Swindon Harrier Heath Bampton.

The women’s race was less dramatic with Swindon Striders’ Fiona Gordon taking a comfortable victory from Sarah Simms (Westbury Run England).

The men’s team prize was won by Swindon Harriers while Swindon Striders took the women’s crown.

Meanwhile, Cricklade Running Club will host its annual half-marathon, 10k and fun run (1.5 miles) on Sunday, October 7.

The closing dates for both longer events is September 30 and the races start at 10.30am from the junior school in Cricklade, while race headquarters is Cricklade Leisure Centre.
