Police in Calne seized alcohol from several underage youths who were drinking in the town centre this weekend.
On Saturday police were on a routine foot patrol, targeting the area round Castlefields Park, and confiscated alcohol from an under-age boy and girl at 8pm.
A few hours later, in the centre of town at 10pm, a volunteer working for Calne CCTV spotted a group of youths near to Bank Row. The teenagers hid some of the alcohol in the bushes, but the operator was able to alert the police to this.
Police found alchol in the bushes and also on two under-age girls, which was disposed of later at the police station.
Later police posted a photograph of five confiscated cans of beer and seven bottles of alcohol on Facebook, including a bottle of Highland Spring water containing pure vodka.
PSCO Mark Cook said police had kept a close eye on the area at the weekend as teenagers were going back to school this week.
He said: “We expected a lot more but it wasn’t too bad. We’d like to say thank you to the Calne CCTV team because without them we wouldn’t have spotted the alcohol in the bushes.”
