Soldiers from 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment return to Warminster this evening after their seven-month deployment in Afghanistan.

The 98 members of Corunna Company will parade at Battlesbury Barracks, in Woodcock Road, at around 5.15pm before they are dismissed and can be reunited with their families.

Based near Lashkar Gah in Helmand Province the company was the first from the battalion to deploy back in February, in the role of Armoured Infantry Company for the 12th Mechanized Brigade.

In March they lost six soldiers in an explosion, triggering a wave of support from Warminster residents, and fundraising efforts toward a memorial at the barracks.

Sergeant Nigel Coupe, from 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, and Corporal Jake Hartley, Private Anthony Frampton, Private Christopher Kershaw, Private Daniel Wade and Private Daniel Wilford, all from 3 Yorks, were killed when their Warrior armoured vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device on March 6.
