A YOUNG managing director has been recognised as one of the best up and coming young talents in the processing and packaging industry.

Marcel Darroch-Davies, managing director at Axelent Ltd, which is based in County Park in Shrivenham Road, has been shortlisted as one of three finalists in the PPMA 2012 Ones to Watch competition, which takes place at the end of the month.

Judges were impressed that in his first year in charge of Axelent Ltd, which supplies machine guarding, warehouse partitioning, anti-collapse and property protection, Marcel, 29, of Lakeside, oversaw a 48 per cent increase in turnover.

Marcel, who became managing director two years ago when he was just, said: “Axelent is a young, market-leading family company within its sector, characterised by short decision routes with substantial employee responsibility.

“I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve achieved so far and would like to thank the company for showing such faith in my ability and for giving me the opportunities they have.

“I’m also delighted to have been shortlisted for the One to Watch award, especially since so many talented individuals from all over the UK were also nominated, and can’t wait for the PPMA Show in September.

“No matter the outcome of the competition, it has been an honour to have been nominated.”

The Ones to Watch competition recognises the contributions of processing and packaging professionals under the age of 35 who have worked in the industry for at least four years.

During his time as managing director, Marcel has been instrumental in making Axelent Ltd one of the top selling Axelent Distributors.

He is personally involved in coordinating all the large and bespoke projects the company undertakes.

During this time, he has also been pivotal in the success of Axelent’s X-Guard machine guarding system, with sales increasing exponentially since its introduction.
