Staff help to catch suspects in Devizes Superdrug

STAFF at Superdrug in Devizes helped the police arrest two suspected shop-lifters.
The suspects, a man and a woman, were followed out of the shop in Market Place by staff, who challenged them, but they got away.
One of the staff members chased the pair into The Brittox.
She then flagged down a police van that was in the West Central car park and constables Adam Hall and Pete Lawson ran after the suspects. They were detained at the rear of the former health clinic in New Park Street.
Police seized a bag which contained six boxes of perfume worth £241.
They were arrested and taken to Melksham Police Station, where it was found they were wanted by police for other shoplifting offences in Devizes and Melksham.
The incident happened last Thursday at about 1pm.
PC Hall praised the staff at Superdrug for their assistance.
l A 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Melksham, have been charged with two offences of shoplifting and are due to appear at North West Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court on September 14.
