Chefs at Calne’s second food festival are hoping visitors and food fans will relish their culinary efforts this Saturday.

Visitors to the festival, which starts at 10am, can enjoy street stalls, a farmer’s market, a children’s fun fair and beer and cider at the local ale bar. Cookery demonstrations in the town hall are free to watch and will star chefs from local organisations including The Bridge Brasserie, Vowley Farm and The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

Mark Jenkinson, who runs The George, Sandy Lane with his wife Harriet, plans to cook a signature dish of scallops wrapped in parma ham. He said: “It’s just to get local people involved. It’s partly educational and partly about letting people know what we do.

“It should be a good day out for everyone, I’m going to stay after to see what everyone else is doing.”
