Calne caterer top for hygiene

Catering manager Robert Merrick was delighted to receive five stars for food hygiene at Calne Town Hall.

The hall has two kitchens, one of which is used for tea and coffee by community groups, and the other has recently been kitted out in order to hold formal dinners.

This second kitchen was taken over by Mr Merrick in April and was visited by food inspectors during a surprise visit two weeks ago. They gave it the highest possible rating of five stars, which is a new benchmark for the town council.

Mr Merrick, who has worked in catering for seven years, also runs the Stones Cafe Bar and Bistro in the town centre.

pretty obvious that a brand new kitchen would get a five star rating,perhaps they should check it again in a years time or is this the council just patting its self on the back

And a new kitchen doesn't guarantee 5 stars. At least one of them is dependant on procedures and record-keeping.
