THE memory of Tami Brown could live on forever in the record books if a hair stylist completes his challenge at the weekend.

Chris Miller, of Miller And Holland Hairdressing, will be aiming to set a world record by cutting 50 people’s hair in 50 hours in the Brunel Centre from 9am tomorrow until 11am on Monday.

The event is in memory of 28-year-old Tami, of Abbey Meads , who died of cancer on July 29, but more people are needed to sign up to get their hair cut to make the fundraiser a success.

“Tami was an amazing person who changed my life for the better,” said Chris.

“She told me to change my career path at Christmas and it inspired me to take action and follow my dreams.”

“This event is a big challenge but the least I can do for someone who inspired me and many hundreds of people across the town.”

Chris is hoping to raise £5,000 for fundraising organisation, Tami’s Wish, which was set up by Tami herself.

All the money raised during the event, which will take place in the entrance to the Brunel Centre, will go to Tami’s two nominated charities, Yes To Life and the Prospect Hospice .

If he completes the challenge Chris will set a new world record for this type of event as it has never been done before.

Performer Jonny Wilkes, who has had a varied career in showbiz and runs a performing arts school in the town, has signed up to get his haircut at 12.45pm tomorrow, but 16 appointment times are still available during the weekend.

The event is being organised by Tami's Angels, a group of 15 of Tami’s close friends and family who are set to continue her legacy and fundraising goals.

Tami was diagnosed with colon cancer when she was only 20.

In April 2010, she was told that she had months to live after the cancer that had invaded her body twice previously had returned to her lungs and abdomen.

Her boyfriend Kris Talikowski said: “Tami’s amazing outlook on life and her positive attitude meant that she was never really affected mentally by cancer. “She truly embraced life and made people realise it's not about how much you have, it's about what you do with the time that you have and the people in your life.”

Over the weekend, other businesses will be providing extra services in exchange for donations such as a nail bar, mini massages, and children’s face painting.

There will also be live music tomorrow and Sunday afternoon.
