Members of the Officers’ Mess at MoD Corsham commemorated The Battle of Britain on Thursday.
A Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight based at RAF Coningsby started the evening's events and made the most of clear blue skies with a superb display, which was followed by a sunset parade by 1304 (Chippenham) Squadron Air Training Corps.
The parade was then followed by a formal dinner with Air Vice Marshal Greg Bagwell, director of joint warfare at Joint Forces Command, as the senior guest and speaker.
As is tradition during the dinner, stories and personal accounts from the battle were read and Air Vice Marshal Bagwell gave a speech highlighting the significance of the battle in shaping the events of the Second World War.
