A Chippenham musical theatre company is on the hunt for a hunk who is happy to take his clothes off on stage.

CLOGS Musical Theatre need a muscle-bound babe to play the part of Keno in The Full Monty this autumn.

The play will be based on the film that told the stories of six unemployed steel workers who perform a one-off striptease, and are pushed into going the ‘full monty’ – taking off all their clothes.

However, the lucky man who takes on the part won’t have to worry about going that far – he will be allowed to keep on his G-string.

Director John Clark said: “People may remember from the film that this is the guy who performs at a ladies’ night and gives the unemployed steel workers the idea that they could try it themselves to raise some money.

“Ironically, Keno is not required to go the ‘full monty’ himself because that is the unique selling point of the gang’s act.”

Mr Clark said they are looking for a man with washboard abs.

“Clearly, what we are looking for is the sort of body that would be found on a Chippendale, otherwise it would just not be convincing,” he said.

“The successful applicant must also be able – with training – to do a short but convincing ladies’ night act and have a modicum of acting talent for a couple of backstage scenes.

“They would have to be available the week of the show, from October 15 to 21, and for rehearsals.”

Mr Clark said he has already cast the six steel workers from within CLOGS, but he is refusing to say whether Paul Cullen, Paul Whelehan, Gary Ibbetson, Rich Lucey, Adrian Pugh and Exley Edwards will do the full monty.

“You’ll have to buy a ticket and come along and find out on the night,” he said.

Rehearsals will take place in the evenings on September 18, October 1 and 9, and the Sunday afternoons of September 30 and October 7.

Mr Clark said: “The show is brilliant fun and anyone who joins in can be guaranteed to have a great laugh with a fantastic cast.”
