A YOUNG motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after a collision with a car in Croft Road.
The 21-year-old was travelling away from Old Town at about 5.15pm when he collided with a black BMW.
The motorcyclist landed a few metres away from his bike and was taken to Great Western Hospital in an Ambulance.
PC Sarah Young, who was at the scene, said: “The motorcyclist has come down from Old Town. A BMW has come out from the park and ride and a collision has taken place.
“He got up from the scene, he has got minor injuries. He is a very lucky chap. He got up and walked to the ambulance.
“His fuel tank landed a bit further up the road.”
One lane heading towards Wroughton and one lane heading towards Old Town were closed after the incident.
Traffic continued to pass on the remaining lanes but some queues have built up.
A spokesman for Great Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at around 5.16am with callers reporting a car had been in collision with a motorcycle.
“There was one patient, the motorcyclist, who was in his early 20s, and he was conscious and breathing at the scene. He was taken to Great Western Hospital with minor injuries.”
Witnesses or anyone with information should phone Wiltshire Police on 101.
