Work on new Trowbridge rugby home

Work has started on the site of Trowbridge Rugby Club’s new home, ahead of its move next year. The club has sold its existing Green Lane home and will move to a bigger site on land opposite Paxcroft Farm, off the A361, in time for the start of next season. Work to prepare the pitches at the new ground has begun and chairman Mike James said: “The grass needs to be planted by the end of this month and needs a year to get established. “All being well, construction on the clubhouse will start by the end of the year. “All the April games have been rearranged, to be played away, so everything should be finished at Green Lane at the end of March.

“We should take ownership of the new site next summer and it’s all systems go for September next year.”

He added: “It’s nice to be able to drive past it and see things happening.”

Developer Doric Group is planning to build homes on the Green Lane site.
