Man admits he had drugs haul

A 63-year-old man has admitted having tens of thousands of pounds worth of drugs when he was stopped in a car last summer.

Robert Quelch was in a vehicle which was pulled over by police in Marlborough Road on July 5, 2011.

And in the car officers found about ten kilograms of high quality amphetamine sulphate along with some cannabis.

They also recovered just under £45,000 in cash which it is alleged was the proceeds of crime.

Quelch, formerly of George Gay Gardens, but now living in south Wales, pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing a controlled drug with intent to supply.

He denied a charge of possessing criminal property in the form of £44,964.88 in cash.

Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to October 5 after hearing Quelch was changing his legal team and released him on bail until then.
